Taxes are killing Offline Bingo

The traditional bingo hall has already been made less popular and fashionable by online bingo parlours – but there's no way us online gamers actually want them to be no more! Unfortunately, bingo industry experts have revealed that the refusal of the government to cut VAT rates on bingo halls is set to close hundreds of bingo halls, and make thousands of people jobless! Exchequer Secretary Angela Eagle has revealed that the government do not plan to give in, despite calls from the Liberal Democrats to change the legislation for the sake of a national game as well as the economy.

What's most infuriating is the fact that online bingo parlours are taxed at a rate of 25-30%, while other gambling vendors only pay 15%. To make matters worse with all the reports of bankers getting paid bonus millions, the tax cut would only cost £10 million – whatever happened to charity? Since the turn of the century, 100-150 bingo clubs have gone bust, with over 4000 job cuts. The government continue to claim tax is not the problem for offline bingo – but cuts would help offer cheaper games for credit crunch hit gamers.
