Gala Coral Bingo Job Slash

While online bingo continues to flourish and has just launched impressive 2009 figures for the first quarter of the year, the news isn't looking so rosy on the other side of the pond; offline bingo parlours are suffering and are set to be hit again. At least, that's the view being pushed out by the UK's biggest bingo company, Gala Coral.

News from the group reports that they have in the pipeline job cuts of up to 200 people, from a select group of offline bingo clubs across the UK. Of course, this is in addition to the 200 jobs slashed by the company just last year in November 2008. Although it's more bad news for the depressed economy in the UK – there are some bright points; the company still employs nearly 19,000 staff and only 6 bingo parlours have been targeted for job cuts.

This does suggest that in many parts of the country, bingo gaming offline is still performing reasonably well as people rebel against the doom and gloom pumped out by the government. Unfortunately, the Gala Coral company have not issued any statements to explain their proposal – so watch this space for more news on the latest bingo parlour cuts.
